Yaseen is a cell wall biologist and lignin engineer. His research interests span from fundamental questions in plant biology to applied projects aim at improving plants for better use in industry. Prior to starting his own research group in the Department of Biology at uOttawa, Yaseen was a University Researcher at the University of Helsinki (Organismal and Evolutionary Biology) in Finland. He holds a doctorate from the University of British Columbia (Forestry), a master’s from the University of Toronto (Cell & Systems Biology), and two bachelors from uOttawa in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering.
